Customer Success Story Corner: State of Michigan wins Award
The State of Michigan recently won the coveted InfoWeek 100 Award for
its Sybase solution. The InfoWeek 100 Award is given each year as a way
to recognize those top 100 organizations that have most effectively used
technology to improve their business.
The State of Michigan 's Office of Financial and Insurance Services (OFIS)
merged 3 agencies, 5 websites, and 14 different databases that previously
were not interconnected. It increased overall efficiency and added new
capabilities, such as online transaction options, to a previously outdated
system. The Sybase solution consisted of PowerBuilder and Professional
Services and it saved the State millions of dollars while ensuring taxpayers
did not bear the burden of a major system overhaul. This project benefited
the 150 OFIS employees who were able to complete their daily functions
throughout the duration of the transition. Everyday, the updated system
ensures the efficient supply of information to hundreds of thousands of
Michigan citizens and serves as a model throughout Michigan , and across
the U.S.
